The video identifies a clogged gutter, incorrect flashing, poor prior work and insufficient maintenance as contributing conditions. AWC’s explanation is that the combination mattered, and timely maintenance could have reduced or prevented the damage or leak.
The video does not establish a universal diagnosis. Each property needs its own review of the gutter, flashing, roof edge, fascia, wall opening and discharge path.
What the field evidence shows
- Tile roof edges and the wood behind the fascia need to be reviewed together.
- Removing fascia and finishes can expose roof-edge wood and framing conditions.
- A window below the roof edge can be affected by more than one water-path defect.
- Maintenance can reduce risk, but it does not correct faulty flashing or prior work.
When to send photos or schedule an evaluation
Send wide and close-up photos when you see overflow, staining, peeling paint, soft fascia, loose gutter attachment or leakage near an exterior opening. Larger water-damage, concealed-condition or multi-trade concerns may require the $250 Site Evaluation + Written Bid Package. The $250 is credited back if the construction project is approved within 30 days.
